I discovered the Grief Recovery Method when I felt lost, confused and in a lot of pain. I recognised that I was experiencing deep grief and I wanted to find an alternative to counselling to help myself move beyond the pain. Whilst recent losses (redundancy and the sudden loss of a family member) bought me to Grief UK, I came to realise, as I was learning the Grief Recovery Method, that I had a significant amount of unresolved grief as a result of a family suicide in my childhood. Whilst it was somewhat daunting to revisit my experiences, I knew this was where my true recovery would begin.
It has helped me tremendously, I feel lighter, and independent studies have proven that it works. As a result, I also learnt that I felt deeply compelled, (that it is my purpose even), to help others move beyond their pain and trained as an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist. Previous participants have also report having experienced recovery from physical illnesses as a result of completing the programme.
