Bereavement support and help adjusting to significant loss
Bereavement support and help adjusting to significant loss
You are in the right place to begin your Grief Recovery. The goal of The Grief Recovery Method is to reduce isolation by increasing participation.
As an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist, I work with my clients to teach them the Grief Recovery Method. It is not therapy or counselling. It focusses on recovery rather than discovery through a fully supported set of actions to help the griever move beyond the pain.
Recovery does not mean forget; it means giving a healed perspective rather than living from the place of pain.
The Grief Recovery Method is a life skill.
I discovered the Grief Recovery Method when I felt lost, confused and in a lot of pain. I recognised that I was experiencing deep grief and I wanted to find an alternative to therapy and counselling to help myself move beyond the pain. Whilst recent losses (redundancy and the sudden loss of a family member) bought me to Grief UK, I came to realise, as I was learning the Grief Recovery Method, that I had a significant amount of unresolved grief as a result of a family suicide in my childhood. Whilst it was somewhat daunting to revisit my experiences, I knew this was where my true recovery would begin.
It has helped me tremendously, I feel lighter, and independent studies have proven that it works. As a result, I also learnt that I felt deeply compelled, (that it is my purpose even), to help others move beyond their pain and trained as an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist. Previous participants have also report having experienced recovery from physical illnesses as a result of completing the programme.
When we think of grief, we tend to think just of bereavement however grief is defined as “the conflicting emotions that follow the ending or change in familiar patterns of behaviour” so grief can relate to over 40 life events in addition to bereavement including relationship breakdown, pet loss, retirement, jobs and careers, loss of health and infertility.
The Grief Recovery Method is the only evidence based grief recovery programme for those tired of carrying the pain and want to feel better. Working with the griever over 7 sessions guiding them to take specific steps to complete their loss. If you, or someone you know, has recently experienced a loss please get in touch to explore how I can help.
